Actual business
iD tagging schema project initiative
| Background |
|---|
| On 2026-02 the EWG approved Mateusz Konieczny's (former board member) proposal to work on iD triaging & improvement of the iD tagging schema.
The contract ended on 2026-05-15. |
During the previous meeting, the EWG decided to pre-approve Mateusz's proposal, as long as there was no opposition during public consultation. According to Minh, there was no opposition.
New contract to be capped at GBP 9,000 + VAT.
Action item: Héctor to prepare the contract to be signed by Mateusz.
Other points mentioned during discussion
- Héctor was focused on the board's face-to-face meeting in Madrid.
Post-meeting note by Dorothea: on 2026-06-20 the board approved the EWG's decision on contracting Mateusz Konieczny for work on iD and the iD tagging schema. According to the OSMF procurement policy, in addition to the EWG approval "All contracts for purchase of goods or services costing over €10 000 in total must be approved by the Board before signing". The new contract is for GBP 9,000, which was over the EUR 10,000 threshold.
Microgrants
Roland (OSMF Treasurer and on the EWG) was absent to talk about the Microgrant payments.
OSMSG responded.
Suggestion: Talk about reaching out again to projects during the 29 June meeting.
Other points mentioned during discussion
- Salim and Adam attended the most recent Local Chapters and Communities Working Group (LCCWG) meeting and made initial contact regarding their microgrants programme and how to help each other out.
Budget
Skipped.
Vector tiles
| Background |
|---|
| On 2025-07 OSMF announced the deployment of Vector Tiles and featured a Vector Tiles layer on osm.org, using the Shortbread schema, originally developed by Geofabrik, and the VersaTiles colorful style.
Work on Vector Tiles is by Paul Norman (also OWG volunteer and former board member). |
Suggestion to have SomeoneElse's (Andy Townsend, also DWG volunteer) vector style on osm.org. Currently, osm.org has the vector style VersaTiles colorful.
On Andy Townsend's vector style
- There are some minor issues, some labels seem big.
Other suggestions
- Get feedback on the style from more people who are not in Working Groups.
- Contact the Communication Working Group (CWG), but they are not very active.
Action item
Andrew to write a message on community.osm.org about Andy Townsend's vector style as an alternative to Versatiles colorful for the Shortbread layer on the osm.org website.
FLOSS Fund
| Background |
|---|
| In October 2025, the OSMF was awarded USD 30,000 by the FLOSS/fund of Indian company Zerodha, to support OSM development. As of 2026-06, the process of submitting tax documents and updating the agreement is still ongoing.
Mateusz Konieczny (former board member) had notified the OSMF board about the fund and can suggested that OSMF could apply. The board had forwarded the suggestion to the Engineering Working Group (EWG). Funding requests from projects were made through a publicly accessible funding.json file, and OSMF's funding.json file is here. Selected sections below from the https://floss.fund/ website: About FLOSS/fund Amount Who can apply Currently, our focus is on supporting existing, widely used, and impactful projects to specifically contribute to their sustainability. Very new projects or projects with minimal usage are not considered for the time being. Evaluation process Currently, our focus is on supporting existing, widely used, and impactful projects to specifically contribute to their sustainability. Very new projects or projects with minimal usage are not considered for the time being. Our internal investment committee evaluates projects based on broad criteria such as value, impact, criticality, and innovation. Once we have a reasonable grasp of the process end-to-end, from evaluation to disbursement of funds, we plan to set up a community voting system and an external investment committee from the FOSS world to help us evaluate and select recipients. What is expected from a project that receives funding How to apply Applications that come through to the FLOSS/fund will be indexed and published on the dir.floss.fund directory / portal, making them publicly discoverable by anyone interested in supporting projects. All documents are in order now, so we can expect the payment soon.
Previous suggestions by Roland (Treasurer)
- Remove the Bank of Ireland IBANs from the funding.json and other public documentation.
- Obtain a dedicated IBAN that blocks direct debits, as direct debits of small amounts might go unnoticed, to be used for receiving funds.
Other points mentioned during discussion
- The FLOSS fund have asked us about needs from the Indian OSM community or Indian initiatives they could help out. Héctor to answer.
Action item
Héctor to ask the Floss Fund about their views regarding banking data in funding.json.

Meeting minutes
A trial arrangement with Dorothea Kazazi was made to address delays in producing minutes. The arrangement is that Dorothea will take minutes for this meeting and the next one, after which she will assess on whether it might be possible to do it on a recurring basis. Dorothea noted that the current meeting was not fully representative, as attendance was low, so she could not draw firm conclusions about the usual workload. The EWG confirmed that having the minutes ready in two weeks, before the next meeting, was ok for them.
Meeting adjourned 18' after start.
