Minutes of previous meetings

The minutes of 08 August, 22 August, and Working_Group_Minutes/EWG_2025-09-05 have been unanimously approved.

Actual business

Vector Tiles

Paul has joined the call to report on Vector Tile work.

The vector tiles are updating minutely, and nothing major has come up. Operational concern: Paul wants to avoid commitment to keep the style URLs of old versions (particularly fonts used in the style).

Wrt to Street Spirit style: for acceptability reasons, it is likely necessary to have a color scheme available which is similar to OSM-carto (although there will still be cartographic differences).

The tile logs to track user adoption.

The roadmap from earlier versions of the contract is still the best source. Paul plans to put a roadmap (living document) into the repo and write a diary post pointing at it. It follows a discussion on how to get more people involved in Street Spirit design and maintenance. Grant's approach to have an introduction meeting is mentioned as a possible example.

Style Competition

To bring more attention to the vector tile style development: Does the Engineering Working Group want to have some kind of competition for Shortbread styles?

Considerations are whether this would require again substantial effort for a fair rating. One way to limit might be to ask the Microgrants jury for the task. Another approach is to have a symbolic trophy much more alike the OSM Awards. Maybe before doing a competition, just ask people feedback on how to do it (or if we do it at all)? Salim volunteers to pursue the idea further.

Microgrants

Salim has answered the public inquiry about progress of the selection process.

The Engineering Working Group will be consulted at the next meeting to look at the scoring.

Roadmap

Minh's roadmap is now public but not yet publicized.

GDPR

Minh plans to raise this topic with Pablo.

Paul Norman asks about planet dump and GDPR: there are no open issues, but there is a closed issue.

Floss Fund

The funding.json has been submitted, Floss.Fund has confirmed the receipt. Now we're waiting for results which can take some months.

Meeting Schedule

With the DST switch coming up, the EWG decides to move the meeting to 15:00 UTC.
