Minutes of previous meetings

The minutes of 23 Jan 2026 have been approved with changes.

Actual business

ID tagging schema project initiative

Mateusz has made a proposal to review open pull requests in the iD and iD tagging scheme repository to resolve the backlog. For reference the informal community consultation.

The estimated effort for this are 192 hours at UK minimum wage of £14, i.e. £2,688.

The Engineering Working Group approves to pay this rate off the website line item.

Microgrants

The timeline of the Microgrants is in the EWG bdding repo. 4 Projects had milestones in January.

Salim is active as the Microgrants point of contact.

Payment and operations shall be handled independently. Roland will figure out banking details where missing and ask back if milestones are unclear.

Budget

The budget for 2026 has been approved by the board. The board has approved the full ask of the Engineering Working Group from 2025-12-12.

Vector tiles

The migration of the vector tile layer to MapLibre is under way. Paul is busy with Shortbread.

For that reason, interactivity is not expected to get available soon: the frontend of Spyglass is dependent on MapLibre.

GDPR

The Legal Working Group has investigated how the Terms of Use can be made binding.

Independently, there has been some progress wrt to data retention in the context of GPS traces, bceause the GPS traces part of the website gets refurbished in the context of the Souvereign Tech Fund work.

Google Summer of Code

OSMF has been accepted as organization for the GSoC.

New projects are joining this year: MapLibre, Planetiler, GoMap

The EWG wants to look into the European Summer of Code to figure out whether the OpenStreetMap Foundation shall do this in addition.
