Actual business
Microgrants
Salim has publicly announced the microgrant jury.
Salim will continue leading the work on microgrants. The jury can choose whichever channel they prefer for internal coordination.
Copyright page update with CommsWG
Minh looks into the issue (our repo) to speed this up.
GDPR
Andrew has communicated with AntonKhorev. A current development priority is to make it possible to accept the Terms of Use for old accounts.
Context: this is necessary to enforce and prove that every user has seen and accepted the Terms of Use which impose restrictions on user to only use other users' data in compliance with the GDPR.
Come back to it in 2 weeks.
Side discussion about new features and GDPR:
Staging wiki environment did not prove useful so far for getting feedback, but OpenStreetMap is starting to get some traction from dark mode support and new extensions, a model to follow in the future.
Vector Tiles
The vector tiles support is soft launched.
It is dependent on this pull request (on OpenMapTiles) to get live. It looks like it has gone stale so Paul is looking at helping and using best practise to apply to the Vector Tiles pull request and subsequently going live.
The question whether osm-carto will be used is answered that
- the style is independent of osm-carto
- the vector layer is purely additive anyway
iD Development
An extension of the contract is currently negotiated. The idea to align the contract cycle with OSMF budget has been discarded: this would move negotiations into the board's most busy months.
Martin asks to go from 11.5 days per month to 13 days per month The Engineering Working Group accepts the budget shift unanimously. Mikel will communicate this decision to Martin.
Bing Imagery
The Engineering Working Group tries to figure out how to help JOSM to keep access to Bing imagery. Dirk has contacted us by mail. The issue is a contractual issue by nature, and the technical implementation or adaption shall follow the renegotiated contract.
The issue is still not solved. JOSM users complain a lot about the often broken Bing maps access.
Mikel will keep the OpenStreetMap community informed about developments from talks with Microsoft in this thread.
Any other business
Hector informs us that he will work with TomTom for some months in his day job. The Engineering Working Group instructs him to put that on his bio page of the EWG members' bio pages.
