Membership updates

New members

The existing members voted unanimously to admit Emerson Rocha and Salim Baidoun to the Engineering Working Group.

Retiring members

The existing members acknowledge that Brandon Liu and Paul Norman have stepped down from the Engineering Working Group.

There are three further nominal members who have neither participated in recent meetings nor responded on an inquiry whether they consider themselves still active.

Implementing the membership updates

Roland will do the paperwork to reflect the changes in membership. This includes updating the list on the Foundation's website, updating the member list of the mailing list, and updating the accounts for the Chaospad that the Engineering Working Group uses.

Communication methods

The working group will determine by an internal survey whether email is still the best fit for communicating, or whether there are other more prospective channels. The LCCWG is reported to use IRC amended by a bridge to Telegram such that the actual communications runs over tools where the Foundation can somewhat warrant their continuing existence.

Meeting organisation

The working groups perceives a general deficiency in organizational things. Roland volunteers to assume a new secretary role to support and back up the chair: this includes sending out invitations and setting the agenda.

Actual business

Vector tiles

Paul Norman is being funded to work on a more detailed proposal which will be reviewed by Engineering Working Group, Operations Working Group and the Foundation Board.

The consensus view of the members present is to acknowledge that that the proposed project would at least create progress on the topic of vector tiles for osm.org. We consider comprehensive vector tiles the long term goal, but that should not prevent this project.

Sovereign Tech Fund

Final call to comment on answers for the Souvereign Tech Fund application. The working groups gives itself a deadline of 24 hours for final comments to ensure that the actual application can be reveiewed by the affected softwares' maintainers and send out before end of July.

Data Model Work

Unspecified people have unspecified concerns or blockers on the Data Model Work. Basically, the dependencies are under-communicated. Roland volunteers to source a concrete list of these concerns.

Additional project ideas

Nothing to discuss today.
