Actual business

Vector tiles

Follow up thoughts from last meeting:

Not quite sure on how to proceed with funding.

Fixed price vs hourly rate: fixed price might not fit into EWG's model

Looks like EWG does not have any value to add to the process at the moment; Paul in contact with board members

Examples for Worst Case size for optimized vector tile 1MB

Multi-MB tiles sizes break mobile device's software: tiles from Amsterdam, some places in US, cities in Columbia(close to equator, so projection affects); zoom in which buildings appear

Funding application process

Is this worth pursuing

Are we at a point where we might begin to turn the brainstorming pad into a more formal document (integrate with current project funding framework?)

Worth pursuing and integrating with existing framework

Local Chapter & Communities WG talking about a potential microgrants program - technical microgrants; deadlines are good

Coordination between technical microgrants and EWG funding

Adam to loop the EWG in the email chain

Microgrants are useful and they are dependent on condition on the ground

Data model

Discussion is on public Github discussion tracker; we need to decide on way forward

Jochen presented the idea in two conferences; Jochen cannot take up paid work on this due to (potential) conflicts of interest

Project manager needed to collect feedback and guide further implementation process, coordinate

How can we find a person for that position? figure out responsibilities for the role

Group has to decide on the options that Jochen has laid out in the data model document

Group to discuss the same in the next meeting when Roland is around since he has specific thoughts

GDPR follow up

Waiting to hear back from Andy

Mute users bid

Next steps given that no one has put forth a bid

Abandon or different way of funding?

Feedback from a Ruby developer outside the community: Can't put a bid on it, too much risk because of unfamiliarity with the ecosystem

Pay someone to write development specification to avoid ambiguity

Find some agencies that do ruby development if no one from the community has come forward to do the work

Find out what agencies might want from a spec (maybe even a structure/section heading)

Robert to pursue line of inquiry

Any other business
