DNS Update - Simplify

Reference: https://github.com/openstreetmap/dns/pull/28

  • We will fix the massive number of records created.
  • Main domains: osm.org and openstreetmap.org
  • Additional: domains with typos, such as openstreetmaps.org, openstreetmap.com

Proposed routes

  • create a simplified "zone file" or
  • continue with if logic on domains to split out.

Other points mentioned during discussion

  • Grant removed the fixes he put in for agri.openstreetmap.org and os.osm.org and will fix the merge conflict.

Next step: Tom will have a look.


Outage Post-Mortem

Grant has circulated the draft of the outage post-mortem privately in the operations channel and to the board for feedback.

The draft report includes a few outcomes, such as about upgrading the out of band link and having a second ISP. The later point might be discussed during the Karlsruhe Hackweekend. Grant also raised the issue about OAuth.

Grant will complete two points of the draft and resent it to the OPS on Friday.

Karlsruhe Hackweekend

Andy Allan is looking forward to coming to the Karlsruhe Hackweekend in February, but hasn't decided yet. The board offered to pay his travel expenses.
