Reportage
Related to 2023-04-06 action item: OPS to draft a policy regarding adding editors to the editor menu. [Topic: Adding Rapid to editor menu]
On usage as a criterion
Disagree with the idea for addition to the menu to be based purely on usage, as it was not a criteria used before and would not work when new apps come up which we may want to add.
Action items:
- Guillaume to ask people on Discourse for comments and provide context.
- Grant to create a GitHub ticket.
Featured layers not updating - OPNVKarte is failing to update
We will email OPNVKarte to ask about update and if they have plans to fix updates.
- OPNVKarte is failing to render new tiles in a timely manner.
- OPNVKarte - single individual (start-up) was cc'ed in the email.
Suggestion: Check if layers on www.osm.org meet the featured-layer criteria, which include update frequency.
Other point mentioned: Paul has contacted OSMFR about the HOT layer - at least 3 months out of date. They're aware of it - run out of disk space and their monitoring did not catch it.
Action item: Grant to politely email OPNVKarte and make them aware of the problem.
Go-Ahead for HE.net networking?
Steps:
- Accept HE.net
- They don't start billing until it starts working.
- They'll give us the letter of authority, once we approve their offer.
- They figure where they'll fit us in their racks.
- We order the crossconnect.
Time related
- Probably won't get done before the 26th of April (outage date).
- Not realistic to rush things.
- Switch when the current payment period with Cogent ends.
- Switch when we're ready, and pay Cogent for the time remaining without us using it until the payment period ends.
- The alternative would be that we would be with Cogent for longer and paying HE while not using them.
Action items
- Guillaume to check Cogent notice period. - Cogent paid until 2023-06-30
- Guillaume to confirm with Gary regarding the technical details, plan for switches, book remote hands, make plan for IP addresses, DNS, prepare the change.
- Physical Connection Requirements (HE?)
- IP switch over? (Subnets)
- DNS TTL + prep switches
